Jakarta, December 9, 2025 — Flooding and landslides that have struck three provinces in Sumatra—Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra—since late November 2025 have resulted in widespread humanitarian impacts.

According to data from the Indonesian Disaster Data Geoportal managed by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), as of Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 2:35 p.m. WIB, the disasters have claimed 961 lives, left 287 people missing, injured more than 5,000 others, and forced approximately 928,800 people to evacuate.

In addition to damaging homes and infrastructure, the disasters have displaced thousands of families. Conditions at evacuation centers pose particular challenges, especially for infants, toddlers, and children who require basic sanitation supplies.

As a form of support for affected families, PT Lucky Mom Indonesia, through its baby diaper brand MAKUKU, has provided flood relief assistance for Sumatra in the form of baby diapers, infant clothing, and children’s clothing, with a total value of IDR 600 million. The aid will be distributed through Dompet Dhuafa to several affected areas in West Sumatra, North Sumatra, and Aceh, prioritizing families with infants and toddlers.

“We at MAKUKU are extending our support to communities affected by the floods in Sumatra. This commitment reflects our concern for the health and well-being of infants and toddlers, especially those living in evacuation shelters,” said Agustinah, Corporate Affairs Director of PT Lucky Mom Indonesia.

To ensure effective distribution, MAKUKU dispatched the aid directly from the company’s logistics facilities.

“The release of humanitarian aid from MAKUKU’s distribution center to all Dompet Dhuafa posts across Sumatra is one form of our support for the Sumatra Flood Relief program. We hope this assistance can ease the burden on families so they can focus more on the recovery process,” said Titi Nurmalasari, Head of Communications at PT Lucky Mom Indonesia.

Dompet Dhuafa expressed its appreciation for the support. “We are very grateful for the assistance provided for our brothers and sisters in Sumatra. Many families arrive at evacuation centers with infants and children and very limited supplies. Aid such as diapers and children’s clothing is urgently needed,” said Yudha Andilla, Manager of Retail Fundraising at Dompet Dhuafa.

“Our Dompet Dhuafa teams have carried out phased distributions at several evacuation sites, including direct distribution to families. We highly appreciate the collaboration and support from MAKUKU in ensuring the aid reaches those who need it most,” he added.

The distribution of Sumatra Flood Relief aid will be conducted in stages based on priority needs in the field, including locations with the highest concentration of evacuees and limited access to baby supplies. MAKUKU is also coordinating with Dompet Dhuafa’s team to map beneficiaries, ensuring the assistance is well-targeted and delivers direct impact to affected families. Through this Sumatra Flood Relief initiative, MAKUKU hopes to support recovery efforts and help meet the basic needs of families, particularly those with young children in evacuation shelters.
