Japanese retailer Makuku Family is working on the Indonesian market by opening several outlets in Jakarta.
The retail business in the country is currently quite sluggish due to the Covid pandemic and the implementation of community activities.
However, new players in this business from Japan are still confident about entering Indonesia. Makuku Family, a mother-daughter product retailer from Japan, will expand to Indonesia by opening 200 outlets.
In the initial stage, outlets were opened at Emporium Mall Pluit, North Jakarta, Greenville, West Jakarta, Harapan Indah Bekasi, Sitanala Tangerang, Setiabudi Bandung, Surabaya, Semarang, Purwokerto.
The company entered Indonesia under the banner of PT Lucky Mom Indonesia and focuses on providing products for the needs of parents, babies, and children.
"This is a form of Makuku's commitment to become a close friend to parents in Indonesia and to provide quality products that meet the needs of their children," said Jason Lee, CEO of Makuku Indonesia.
In Japan, Makuku Family is known as a children's clothing brand initiated by Etsuko Kondo and James Wang.
This retail network was then brought to Indonesia and led by Jason Lee as CEO of Makuku Indonesia by Japanese standards.
Jason Lee had previously succeeded in developing the Oppo mobile phone business in Indonesia.
"Emporium Mall is the first shopping center that was chosen as the prime location for Makuku Family outlets, and in the future I hope that Makuku Family can continue to provide the best products and services for all parents throughout Indonesia," he said.
Makuku is currently developing collaborations with several hospitals and maternal and child health consultants, one of which is the Carolus Salemba Hospital to start working on the market.
"We see that Makuku Family has the same commitment as St. Carolus Hospital, which is to provide information and knowledge about baby care," said Surya Rama, S.E as Head of the Development and Marketing Bureau of Carolus Salemba Hospital.
The collaboration between Makuku Family and Carolus Salemba Hospital includes education about the health and care of mothers and babies through social media of both parties, such as IGTV or YouTube Channel as well as providing articles by specialist doctors at Carolus Hospital on the Makuku Family and Carolus Hospital Salemba websites.
For the Indonesian market, Makuku Family is developing as a one-stop outlet for all the needs of parents, babies, and children.
Makuku collaborated with suppliers including Béaba from America, Pouch from Germany, Oz Farm from Australia, Inglesina from Italy, Mustela from France, Farlin from Taiwan, and B&B from South Korea and installed Chelsea Olivia as brand ambassador.
