Jakarta: The government is aggressively improving the quality of Human Resources (HR) to support the Indonesian economy in line with achieving the target of becoming a developed country in 2045. Among the things that are being done are optimizing the education sector through Face-to-face Learning (PTM) while still prioritizing health protocols.
Consultant Pediatrician, Makuku Family Andreas, said that as much as possible, children who started school with face-to-face learning maintained strict health protocols. The reason is that the number of cases of children infected with COVID-19 in the country is still quite large.
"If you want to allow children to attend school face-to-face, make sure the children maintain health protocols and related parties at school also strictly implement health protocols. This is to suppress the spread of COVID-19," said Andreas, in a virtual press conference, Tuesday, 28 September 2021.
He regretted that when face-to-face learning was implemented, the cases of children infected with COVID-19 in the country soared. This is unfortunate and it is hoped that all parties will strictly maintain the health protocols applied, starting from wearing double masks, maintaining distance, frequently washing hands in running water, and the like.
"The immunization rate (covid-19 vaccine) has not reached 80 percent for children 12 to 18 years old. Not to mention the availability of PCR tests in the area is not as many as in Jabodetabek. Indeed, the number of COVID-19 cases has dropped but for children it is still high, the health protocol must be maintained," he said.
Meanwhile, the government continues to boost the creation of quality human resources to boost Indonesia's economic competitiveness. In this case, the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati stated that the Independent Learning policy would be able to produce superior and quality human resources. The hope is that it can encourage the progress and ideals of Indonesia.
"The government is trying to improve the quality of human resources through various ways because it is very important for a country," said Sri Mul.
The Free Learning Policy which is promoted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) provides freedom for students to study in a different way from higher education. One form of this learning method is to bring students closer to the real environment.
The hope is that they can apply the knowledge they have learned to the challenges of the world of work. Sri Mulyani said that later students could practice facing the world of work as well as learn to understand and control themselves considering that they will be faced with challenges that are very different from the campus world.
"In the Ministry of Finance, your attitude will affect the performance, achievements and reputation of those who have a public role, such as taxes, non-tax revenues, customs, state spending, and others," he concluded.
