Diapers are one of the mandatory equipment to support your little one's comfort. Now there are many types of diapers sold in the market. If the diaper is used according to the needs of the little one, it will make the child comfortable and grow well. But unfortunately, there are many myths circulating around diapers that are misguided and trusted by many parents.

MAKUKU summarizes some of the myths surrounding baby diapers that are circulating in the community and are quite disturbing:

Myth 1: Diapers are not the main cause of diaper rash

Most parents think that diaper rash is caused by diapers that don't fit. This is just a myth. Because actually diaper rash has many causes and diapers are not the main cause of diaper rash.

Baby skin with diaper rash, irritation and allergies can be caused by the development of fungi and bacteria, the wrong food, chemicals, friction of diaper material or clothing. Even diaper rash can also be caused by poor hygiene of the genital area. So, parents should keep the skin moist that is often exposed to urine and covered by diapers.

Myth 2: Large diapers can prevent diaper rash

One of the causes of diaper rash is friction between the moist surface of the diaper and the baby's skin. To avoid friction, many think using a diaper with a large size can prevent diaper rash. Unfortunately this thinking is not quite right..

The choice of diapers for babies is not determined by age. But it must be adjusted  to the baby's weight. Diapers that are the right size can make babies more comfortable in wearing diapers. Precisely diapers that are too big can make diapers leak easily, easily come off and messy dirt.

Myth 3: Rashes only occur on the buttocks

A rash is a change in the texture or color of the skin caused by inflammation. Skin that has a rash usually has symptoms of redness, itching, bumps, peeling, scaling and irritation.

Skin rashes can occur anywhere on the body. Likewise, diaper rash does not only occur in the buttocks area but can also occur in the groin, groin and waist. Keep in mind that diaper rash occurs in areas covered by diapers.

Myth 4: Must use baby powder in the diaper area

Usually parents like to use powder for their little ones with the reason that skin moisture occurs. Even though the use of powder is not recommended for babies, especially in areas covered by diapers. Because the powder is a small particle that easily enters the body of the little one. When used on the face, the powder can potentially be inhaled and enter the respiratory tract.

Meanwhile, when used in the diaper area or close to the genital area, it can trigger dangerous diseases such as genital infections. Because the powder can collect with sweat and other substances in the genital area.

Myth 5: Diapers Affect the shape of the baby's feet

It should be noted that diapers do not affect the shape of the feet at all. The baby's feet are basically O-shaped or look like a straddle walk. This is normal and will improve on its own at 18 months of age and will straighten out at about 3-4 years of age.

In fact, until now there has been no research that shows disposable diapers can cause baby's feet to be O-shaped or bow legs. So, parents don't have to worry too much about this. (Aq/MKK)
