Moms and dads may be confused right now because your little one is experiencing rashes due to disposable diapers. Usually, if your beloved baby experiences irritation and rashes, moms and dads will apply an ointment or cream to relieve irritation and itching. However, which parent would have the heart to see their child constantly getting diaper rash? Actually, is there a solution to replace disposable diapers?

Don't worry moms and dads, now there are types of diapers that are fairly safe for sensitive baby skin. This diaper is not new, in fact in ancient times it was commonly worn, namely cloth diapers. Recently, cloth diapers have been transformed into easier to use and more colorful ones, known as clodi.

Curious about Clodi which is predicted to be a disposable diaper solution? Let's take a look at the advantages and disadvantages together.

1.   The difference between Clodi and Ordinary Cloth Diapers

Clodi is an abbreviation of cloth diapers, in Indonesian it means the same thing, namely cloth diapers. However, regular cloth diapers and Clodi are clearly different moms and dads. Clodi is now equipped with a bedwetting absorbent layer and the surface is also relatively dry. Some clodi even add a polymer material that is impermeable to water to anticipate leakage.

This fluid-absorbing layer of bedwetting or baby pee usually has a high absorption capacity. Some of the bed-wetting absorbent materials on the market include microfiber, bamboo, wool, and hemp. The good news is, because these are cloth diapers, they can be washed and reused. Diapers that can be used repeatedly are certainly very environmentally friendly because they reduce the amount of waste.

2.   Expensive in the beginning but economical for the next child

Usually a one month old baby needs a maximum of 12 disposable diapers per day. After a month, your little one will usually need 8-10 diapers per day. So, in total each month a baby needs up to 300 diapers. If we assume the current price of diapers is IDR 35,000 per pack containing 24 diapers, then every year moms and dads have to spend a budget of approximately IDR 5,250,000.

Meanwhile, if we compare it with Clodi, moms and dads do have to buy a lot of Clodi at the beginning at a fairly expensive price. Assuming each baby needs 8 clots per day and reserves, then moms and dads must have at least 16 clots. If one clodi costs Rp. 60,000, then moms and dads need to spend up to Rp. 960 thousand at the beginning of use.

Although it seems very expensive, this clodi can be used for years until your little one grows up. Even these cloth diapers can be passed on to their younger siblings as long as the cloth diapers are not damaged due to the daily use and washing process.

3.   Weaknesses of Clodi, It Takes Extra Time and Energy

If moms and dads choose Clodi as a substitute for disposable diapers, you must be prepared with the following consequences. First, moms and dads have to be prepared with a pile of laundry that has to be washed carefully. Because moms and dads have to rinse the Clodi with water first to remove the bedwetting marks before washing it with a special Clodi detergent. Some types of cloth must be washed by hand and it is not recommended to wash them in a washing machine.

Loads of laundry and having to be washed by hand automatically require extra time and effort from moms and dads. Not to mention if there are stubborn stains on the clodi, the clodi must automatically be soaked first or washed with warm water. It's different when moms and dads use disposable diapers. Besides being more practical, the use of disposable diapers saves time and energy, especially for moms and dads who don't have household assistants (ART).

The second consequence is that Clodi leaks easily and is impractical, especially if moms and dads travel with their little ones. Of course, you will have trouble carrying wet diapers when traveling and need extra space to put the cloth in your luggage or carry-on bag. To prevent leakage in the clodi, moms and dads have to replace it often.

4.   Which Diaper is Best for Your Baby?

After reading the information about clodi above, moms and dads will understand that disposable diapers and cloth diapers both have advantages and disadvantages. Moms and dads just have to adjust to the needs and comfort of the little one. For example, if moms and dads often travel, then there's nothing wrong with using disposable diapers that are practical in addition to using clodi.

Moms and dads can use MAKUKU Air Diapers which are developed with advanced technology. MAKUKU diapers have a SAP core structure that quickly absorbs bedwetting fluid up to 600 ml, but uniquely this diaper will not clump because the diaper core is designed to be stable and has an even absorption. The surface of MAKUKU diapers is also extra dry to prevent moisture from causing rashes on baby's sensitive skin. Amazingly, the MAKUKU diaper has a thickness of only 1.6 mm which allows your little one to move freely because there is no lump sensation.

Both cloth diapers and disposable diapers must be changed frequently to avoid the growth of bacteria and protect baby's skin from rashes, moms and dads. Also, make sure to clean your baby's bottom and genital area after each diaper change. I hope the information on the disposable diaper replacement solution is quite useful, moms and dads. Congratulations on choosing the best diaper for your little one!
