Calculating the fertile period is important for women. Besides being a benchmark for reproductive health, the fertile period is the right time to have sex for husband and wife. Having sex during your fertile window can increase your chances of getting pregnant. To calculate the fertile period is very easy, let's look at the following explanation.

Menstruation is the discharge of blood from the vagina as a monthly cycle in women. This cycle occurs in women naturally. Normally the menstrual cycle or commonly known as the coming month lasts for 21-35 days. But not all women experience this, sometimes menstruation can occur irregularly.

In the menstrual cycle or menstruation there will be a phase of ovulation or fertile period. A woman's fertile period is about 2-5 days before ovulation. Therefore, the egg will be released from the ovary and must be fertilized within 12-24 hours. While the ovulation period for each woman is different, depending on the length of the menstrual cycle each month. The formula for calculating a woman's fertile period:

  • In a short menstrual cycle for example 27 days. Subtract that number by 18 and the result is 9 days. This number is the first day of the fertile period.
  •  While the menstrual cycle is long for example 30 days. Subtract that number by 11 and the result is 19 days. This number is the last day of the fertile period.

For example, if you have a 28-day menstrual cycle, ovulation usually occurs on the 12-14 day after the first day of your period. That is, if your average menstrual cycle is around 27-30 days, then your fertile period is 9-19 days. It should be noted, in general, a woman's fertile period is calculated by relying on records or analysis of the menstrual cycle for at least the last 8 months.

Well, the challenge is the duration of a woman's menstrual period can change from time to time. Normally, a woman's period lasts for 2-7 days. So, your ovulation period can be a week earlier or later. If mom is still having trouble calculating the fertile period, and dad can try to have sex every 2-3 days.

That's how to know the fertile period in women, mom. In addition to these methods, moms can buy fertility test kits to make it easier to determine when the fertile period and ovulation period.
