A mother's struggle doesn't stop after giving birth. Taking good care of your little one is the real struggle of a mother. Not to mention, other mothers often make "scathing" comments about our children without them realizing it. For example, comments about your child's weight, body shape and development are often compared to other children.  Maybe the question is not intended to hurt the mother's heart, but do you know that comparing or commenting badly about other people's children includes baby shaming?

The definition of baby shaming itself is very broad. Usually baby shaming refers to the practice of publishing photos or stories about the behavior of young children, especially babies or toddlers who are considered "embarrassing" or "funny" by parents, caregivers or others on social media. However, it is not uncommon for baby shaming to occur in everyday life, for example in the scope of friends, neighbors and even one's own family.

Then, how to deal with baby shaming wisely without hurting the baby shamer back? Let's see how to deal with baby shaming in the style of Nikita Willy's moms.

Tips to Deal with Baby Shaming So You Don't Get Bitter

Nikita Willy, MAKUKU Brand Ambassador shares her experience in dealing with baby shaming and disagreeing parenting. According to moms Issa, silence is one of the best responses to dealing with this. Because parents are the ones who best understand and understand what our own children need.

"So, we can ignore negative comments from others. We can close our eyes and ears about what people say because only we know what is best for our family.

Judgments from others can actually be input for us to consider as material for self-introspection. So that whatever other people say we can take as lessons. That's also what moms Nikita said, "Even if there are negative comments but there is little input we can accept too."

Moreover, being a mother in the digital era like today, Moms Nikita said that being a mother is difficult and it is much more difficult to be a mother in the onslaught of social media. Because we will easily find people who are experts in their respective fields. And not a few will also interfere in other people's affairs easily.

"Certainly if the mother's mentality is not strong enough, she will easily get down and think too much. My advice is that we should focus on what we have and do rather than focus on listening to others," she explains.

Baby Shaming Phenomenon Among Mothers

Every child has different growth and physical characteristics. However, that doesn't mean it can be used as a benchmark, a comparison, or a loophole to criticize other children. This baby shaming phenomenon has been around for a long time, whether in the form of jokes, questions or subtle insinuations. Moms Nikita also feels that there are many who are aware of this baby shaming phenomenon among mothers. Especially in today's digital era where all information is very open.

"Rich mom and baby activities everyone can comment and that is normal. But back again how we respond to these negative comments. If we know, it must be easier and wiser to use social media," said this mother of one.

For that, moms Nikita invites all mothers to focus on what we currently have. And must always be happy, because according to her, a happy mother will create a happy family and a happy family will create and raise happy children too.

"Keep up the spirit because all the keys are in the mother. We must be smart in social media and not all information received is swallowed whole. We must be able to filter what we read, accept and think," she concluded.

So, baby shaming is an act of mocking other babies. If you feel like you've done it, don't do it again, moms. Even though it's a joke, baby shaming can hurt the hearts of the parents. If continued, baby shaming can also leave wounds for the child later.

Remember moms, your little one is also a human being who has feelings. Stop baby shaming so that he grows healthy and happy. MAKUKU also always supports the optimal growth and development of your little one. (Aq/MKK)
